Banishing

Writer's picture: Angie Nabrotzky LassigAngie Nabrotzky Lassig

Cruelty follows us.

Especially from childhood.

It hurts most coming from the ones

you trust, and love.

Those first relationships,

betrayals of your love,

and THEIR love.

Who are these people?

Why would they do this?

They're injured too.

The first time is always the most devastating,

it's confusing, shocking, and raw.

Unfortunately there will be

many more experiences of cruelty, pain, and abuse

as you grow older.

The shock sometimes wears off,

but there are always the experiences that hit you

like lightning again.

They really hurt.

Its as if some of the hurt that you carry inside,

compounds.

Running and denial don't work.

Facing it can sometimes hurt even worse.

Picking the details apart, analyzing.

That's why trauma follows us,

like an injured hornet.

Stinging until it dies, or we kill it

somehow.
